I find "personality  tests" fun. You come to know who you really are, not that you don't know your self, it helps you realize your inner self. The traits, attitude, view in life, and of course your personality.

A personality test aims to describe aspects of a person's character that remain stable throughout that person's lifetime, the individual's character pattern of behavior, thoughts, and feelings.

history repeats itself or rather history [must not] repeat(s) its self

"Imelda Marcos dreams of return to power"

Two topics, one story.

This brings me back to my history class. The time that we were under martial law. Not the martial law era itself, but rather the late-martial law days. Where the intense battle between the Aquino's and the Marco's for the presidency started during those late-martial law days.

During those days, the Filipino people had been so anxious about their condition. They lived with it for two decades. A lot has suffered under the regime of a "dictator". Twenty years of hardship and suffering. Several number of people had been imprisoned, some  slain. One of the most controversial man that was imprisoned was Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino. He was exiled during the martial law, and when he was ordered to return to the country, he was shot dead even before his foot lands on his own country.

That ignited the people to revolt, thus the most historic revolution was written in history. The bloodless people power EDSA Revolution.

After the EDSA revolution, the late former president Corazon "Cory" Aquino became the president and democracy was returned to the Philippines.

Analyzing the history and what is happening now in the Philippines, we were under dictatorship in the past. Now, we are under a so-called dictator president for the last (almost) ten years.

After the 20 years of Martial Law days, there was a snap election. The candidates for election were Aquino and Marcos. Now, we might have a candidate name Aquino and Marcos.

During the martial law, our economy was going down. During these past ten years, our economy is going down.

During and/or after the martial law, there were lots of ill-gotten wealth from the Marcos' that came out in the news. Now, there had been several reports of unexplained wealth from our current administration, particularly pertaining to the "first family". (Mikey: Wealth came from gifts) (Arroyos still need to explain wealth rise, says lawmaker)

During the martial law, a lot of foreign political visitors visit the Philippines. Now, reports say that the presidents had been visiting foreign countries.

Now, election is fast-approaching. We had mistakes. Mistakes on who to elect or who to choose as our leader. We should have learned from it. We should now by now who is the correct and who is "really" worthy of our precious VOTES. It is so precious that it should never be sold, and also it cannot be bought.

Let's hope that after the coming election, we will have a rightful leader that will lead us right this time. Let's hope that history will not repeat itself.

[off topic] Chloe O'neal Ronquillo wrote on August 23, 2009 at 6:11pm

I know this is off topic from my blog. I just want to share the sweet young girl's sentiments
Chloe O'neal Ronquillo wrote on August 23, 2009 at 6:11pm
Yes, I am the eldest daughter of Raymond Ronquillo, and I am a victim of tito Willie's hurtful jokes on Wowowee. Everything you read on the newspapers and internet is true (tito Willie's cars, the young girls, Aiko Climaco). I had a happy family before my papa became friends with tito Willie. I had a papa who took care of us and loved us so much. But now, we don't have a papa anymore.

I know tito Willie or even tito Willie's friends know about this group. If anyone who knows tito Willie please pass my letter to tito Willie.

Dear tito Willie,
I once had a happy family before you came into our lives. I had a papa who cared for us and loved my mama very much. I had a family. Now it's just my mama, my sisters Robbie and our baby Alex and me. It was because of you, your money and your girls why he left us. Sana may papa pa po kami. We don't see our papa anymore. He doesn't talk to us and doesn't spend time with us. I miss my papa. We miss our papa. We miss going to church with him. People laugh at us in school. I am hurt. You promised to help us.

You made fun of us 5 times already on tv.

Tito I may be young but I have feelings. I am very hurt. I don't want to cry anymore. Im hurt because you don't understand how I feel, how my sisters and my mama feel. I'm hurt because I lost my papa and you don't seem to care for us as my papa's family. Tito Willie, you're my papa's bestfriend. Tito I'm only 12 but I know what's right and wrong.

I'm glad you're not my papa tito Willie. I hate you so much tito Willie. Sinira mo po buhay namin. Sinira mo po ang pamilya ko. Masama ka pong tao. Ang plastik plastik mo po. You will go to hell when you die. I hate you so much!!

Hate you tito Willie,
Chloe Ronquillo

I hope they put an end to his (Willie Revillame) incorrect attitude.

(a) twenty [20] pesos per day

A 20 pesos, this can go a long way!

I can still remember the first time that I got hold of a twenty peso bill for myself. It was Christmas season. A time for every child to earn money! The easy way. We just have to go to our ninongs/ninangs and viola! We now have something for visiting them, an "Aguinaldo" as what we call it here in the Philippines. One of my ninong gave me the famous “20 peso bill”.

We managed to go to several ninongs and ninangs and have an aguinaldo. At the end of the day, we counted our earnings. Lucky for me, I was able to have a fair amount of money. My mom told me then to give the money to her and she will open a bank account for me. This was the first time that I saved money. It was a nice idea from my mom to save the money, she told me that she’s doing it for future use.

After that Christmas, on the next school year, I had my first “baon”/allowance in a form of a cash! A 20 peso bill! Yey! I had baon before but it was in a form of food. I was so happy when I got my first baon/allowance, but before she handed me the money, she told me that I should learn to save it, because I still have my packed lunch and snacks so there is actually no need for me to spend my baon.

Can you guess when was the first time that I got that allowance? It was during my fourth grade in elementary. Yes, it was only until I reached my fourth grade. I only had 20 pesos per day. Thinking about it, 20 pesos is not that much for a child. Image what you can buy for a 20 peso.

Estimated price of items sold in school:
    Spaghetti (snack)    P 10.00
    Coke                     P  7.00
    Candy                   P  1.00/piece
    Lunch                   More than 20 pesos
    Biscuits                 P  5.00/pack
    Ballpen                  P  7.00
    Pad Paper              P 10.00
    Fishball                 P   5.00/10pcs.
    Kikiam                   P   2.00/pcs
    Tex                      P  2.00/pack
    Palabunutan           P  5.00/bunot
    Manga/Santol         P  5.00/piece
    And other miscellaneous items…

As a child, all of us wanted these things. But way back those years, I wanted those things myself. I try to think and think again if I need those things or if I just want it. I try get those things that I need instead of the things that I want.

As the market value of items rises, so does my allowance. I got an increase! I had my increase when I reached my First (1st) Year in high school. The 20 pesos then became the 50 pesos. My mom still reminded me of saving the money. I had a 50 peso allowance per day until I graduated my high school days. Did I mention that I still have my packed lunch and snacks during these days?

It was until I reached my college years that I had another increase in my allowance. The 50 pesos then doubled. It’s now called the 100 peso. A great increase if you will think about it. Not as much as you think because during these days, I don’t have(want) a packed lunch nor snack. I only have an allowance if I have school. So if I don’t have classes for the day, I don’t get an allowance.

Now, thinking of how can I say that a twenty pesos can “GO A LONG WAY”? Here’s how. I only spent 5-15% of the daily allowance that I get. I try to think and re-think if I need the item or if I just want it. Separating the necessity from the luxury. Imagine how many school days we have in a school year. Less a 5-15% for the expenses. That is what I have as savings. I did save a fair amount of money until I graduated from college.

Now, those savings are now called investments. I manage to put up a small business from the savings that I had since grade schools. It was a tough decision for me because I saved that money for almost a decade.

The twenty (20) pesos will go a long way… if you know how to maximize it! Start saving as early as now, think first before you buy.
